This blog is about my life, and my battle with Hodgkin's Lymphoma; a struggle for both literal and figurative breathing room. I borrowed the phrase from the rationale for the troop surge, but it resonates with my background in public speech and debate, and helps explain my efforts to find a space for life in the face of cancer. This is the entryway of the hospital where my brother and I were born. That is my brother and mother standing in the doorway - you may be surprised to learn that I am related to a tall blond athlete and a pretty readheaded woman. Rumors of baby-switching and adoption abound.
